Next project, a Rocket Stove

I have been eyeing rocket stoves as a back-up survival cooking source for some time.

I have seen the commercial ones on the net at $120 plus so I am planning to make my own. I have viewed many designs from many crafty people on the net and will hopefully produce something over this weekend. If you don't know what a rocket stove is, youtube has many videos on it.

The Russians are watching me and other things.

Well I have noticed for the past 3 days now that I have someone from the Russian Federation that is visiting my blog every hour. I find this odd because I just write about things that interest me, things I do and from time-to-time express my opinions, views, or musical interests. It's not like I'm a spy selling computers or hiding as a cook. Hey, if you visit my blog this much, leave me a comment on something, its the least you could do. A bottle of good Russian Vodka would do too.

Just been hanging low as of late. I have been around to the blogs and replied to a few. Still waiting on Duke to come up with a day to fix the range up. Also, I have been sending out applications for employment. As I am done with my undergraduate degree, I am ready for a career change. I am literally getting "Burned out" doing what I am doing. I have received a few disappointments from employers, which I felt that I was well qualified for the job, but good ole' DIVERSITY plays its ugly hand. Since those rejection letters, I have not answered those questions at the end of the applications anymore, I have one job still under consideration and made it to the final round on another one. IMHO, DIVERSITY has destroyed this country. Why should age, race, sex be considered in employment? If you disagree with my opinion, please chime in and lets start an educated discussion.

Tonight, Harry over at Self Sufficient Mountain Living wrote a good posting of the conditions that he and his wife are experiencing in the Appalachians. His post made me think a bit. Now, I spent over half my life in the Carolina's and when winter came, you think of snow and ice storms. I remember all the days I missed school because of the bad weather. I thought of our property during this storm and made calls to have family friends check it out for downed power lines. So far, so good. JUGM and I also spent 2 yrs in CT when I was on shore duty and felt the blizzard of 1995 in person.

News from Atlanta reports 2" of snow and ice and it shuts the city down? Kids stuck at school and cars abandoned on the side of the interstate. I would like to know how many people in Atlanta actually had a get home, bug out, winter clothing, etc, etc, in their vehicle or even listening to the changing weather conditions and prepared for it? I wonder how many people have payed attention to predictions from good resources such as the Farmers Almanac that this year will be very cold? People are so quick to blame someone else for their lack of preparation of weather events. "It's George Bush's fault right"? I was actually glad to see that the mayor of Atlanta actually assume responsibility for the screw ups in this piss-poor municipal decision making process, now if we could get POTUS to accept responsibility, I know, "yeah right".
Many of us bloggers have preached about being prepared, whether it for a financial collapse, EMP, food shortage, weather event, etc, etc, etc, but you know what, you probably wouldn't have seen any of us panicking like liberatards and crying to the government for help, "I'm stuck and I cant get out"!!!! You know what, maybe you should learn from our blogs, since many of us live in conditions worse than what you experienced, it may do you some good in the future.

Till next time, stay safe and warm.

Thrashing Tuesday

I'm still here, just laying back and relaxing. Figured I would throw a bone out from a local north Florida band.
