Oh, how time flies by

As the title says, time has been flying by with work, baseball, and other things. Went up last week and checked on the SC property and things were good-to-go. I finally got the one claim against a major health care provider resolved with another one filing 10 days late, after the claim period ended, and the court allowed it to be valid since the estate was still open. If you could have seem me, I was pretty pissed and angry about the whole situation. Now, since both my parents are both gone now, I don't ever want to relive the nightmare I have had to deal with in getting an Estate settled and closed. I will be making trips over the next few weeks to finally close it all out. Handling Estates are easy, minus the IRS and MEDICARE. See folks, look forward to what we all will have to deal with in regards to a government who is broke and needs money and a health care system that has been turned upside-down for the sake of people who don't want to work nor pay for their health care. Thanks Dead-Beats!

The 24th was the one year anniversary of my best friend and father passing away. This last Thursday was a tough day. If any of you have still have a mother or father that is still alive, make sure you spend as much time with them as possible, it will ease the pain when that day arrives. My father was always photogenic, and looking through the many years of pictures he always had a smile on his face. This was the last picture I took of him a week before he passed.

Other things going on in my hectic life, well you know by now, BASEBALL. Today our semi-pro team for the Florida Marlins had a game and all of us loaded up and met some other kids and coachs from our team and had a day at the ball park. Before the game, the team held a free clinic for the kids and we all went on the filed and had a good time.

Little ND pitching

Earlier this week I managed to score some .22 sub-sonic ammo. Hey, it shoots and will be great for some practice. I'm not happy about the prices, but I'm not driving all over in an attempt to find some.
One other purchase that I was in need of was a personal solar power charging system. Now I have a large solar panel to charge my battery on my camper, but I wanted something that is a proven system that I can put in my pack. I spoke with some other like minded people and I know Stephen has done a post about his, so I went with the Goal Zero Guide 10. The present time, I just wanted to get a basic set-up but I will be adding to what I have purchased.

So there you have it, this has been my life in a nut-shell for the past few weeks. I'm sorry if I haven't posted much but like many of you, we all have things going on. Hope everyone has a great start to this next work week, and make sure you work very hard for all the dead-beats who don't want to work. Holy-Cow, it's Democratic Representative Charlie Rangel....... Kindof looks like some other blogger we all know.

  2. Lol, i have thought about sending things to a couple of our blogger friends, but just cant figure out what I want to send. The goal zero products are not priced to bad, i found they were cheaper in Amazon than their own site, and with prime you save in shipping. I plan to do a post on it and play around with it.

    1. I hear you K, my mom was the best thing in my life. She did so much for me that I could never repay. She and JUGM clashed majority of the time, even when she lived in the UK
before we had kids, but as soon as she had grandsons, I saw a change in her and her and JUGM were best friends.

  5. Senior,

Sending a hug to you and Sweet JugM, I so know how hard it is to deal with the loss of a parent. They say as time goes on it gets a little easier, I don't know about that because I'm still dealing with my struggles. The legalities are a real pain in the you know what. Dad had a will however, it's never been updated since 1962. We hired an attorney for my Mom because she doesn't understand all the requirements of the state where they reside. The hardest thing over the years was talking to the folks and trying to get them to update their wills, and get power of attorney documents filed so there bills can be paid. They never did any updates or filed any legal documents therefore, going to probate court will be interesting.

Baseball.................wooohooo, we love this sport. Were Ranger fans, used to be major Marlin fans when we lived in Florida.

I look forward to seeing updated pictures of the onions and sunflower seeds out on the homestead.

  6. So what do you do in your spare time? I hear you loud & clear; my dad passed three years ago on May 5, but my mom's still here. Staying close by phone is the best I can do, but it's not a chore.

    Good advice, Senior. Thanks.

    1. I spent a lot if time on the phone with my mom and dad over the years. If that is the best means you have, then use it to the best of your ability. I really miss the calls I would get from both of them. it's a part of my life that has become hollow.

  10. I totally understand about your dad. Reading your post brought back some memories and feelings I have not had in quite a while. My dad passed away in 1995 and mom died a couple years ago. Good advice - spend as much time as you can with them. One thing I regret is not being able to ask them so many questions that the answers I do not have.

Regarding the Goal Zero - good choice. Those like minded people you mentioned are geniuses. ;- )

Traveling 77 north into Rock Hill stop by Nichols for .22's. I have surpassed inventory levels that would probably get me on some government .22 hoarding list (hi NSA).

    1. Yes, my mom was a very open person, she had no problems telling me anything. My dad on the other hand, now that's a different story. I know he was set in his ways, never wanted me to help him with anything, but i did see him open up more in the last year's of his life. There are still questions that will go unanswered until I see him again, then he will laugh at me for not figuring them out.

Haven't had a chance to try the Goal Zero out, weather and work not permitting.

You know, I have seen the signs many of times, drove by once by accident but never stopped. I think I put on my Sunday best and stop by. I know I need some new arrows.

      Thanks for stopping by.

  11. You're lucky you had a good relationship with your dad. My dad and I never got along. I think in the last 30 years of his life I saw him twice, each time for about an hour and we hardly spoke. He's been gone two years now.

You have been busy, but you've gotten a lot of good things accomplished.

    1. Harry, yeah we had a great relationship and I understand your relationship with your dad, I saw my half-obama supporter brother go through about the same situation, I remember when he told me his dad passed away and asked him where the funeral was and he said he didn't care, he wasn't going. My dad was more of a father to him and was glad he was with me at my dad's funeral.
